Description
The Luxembourg fox was created by Michel Rodange (1827-1876), inspired by GOETHE’s Reineke Fuchs. Now a national epic, his fable is a satirical description of the political figures of the time, through 14 songs in the Luxembourg language.
The original work, dating from 1932, is a joint creation by sculptors DEMUTH and GROSBER, in homage to national poet Michel RODANGE. The stone original of the “Renert” is kept in the Musée d’Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, and was overmolded in 1981 to give rise to the specimen on the Place Guillaume. The work was entrusted to the care of one of the Louvre’s most prestigious casting workshops, so that a perfect impression could be made, reproducing every detail of the work.
