Description
Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875) is the undisputed master of 19th century animal sculpture. He influenced generations of sculptors all over the world, such as Frémiet, Valton, Mène or Trémont.
This artistic bronze bas-relief, designed as a decorative element for a clock or a marble base, was created in the 1820s, then produced by various foundries during the 19th and 20th centuries. The old cast iron is on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
