Description
The Luxembourg fox is the work of Michel RODANGE (1827-1876), inspired by GOETHE’s “Reineke Fuchs”. Now a national epic, his fable is a satirical description of the political figures of the time, in 14 songs in the Luxembourg language.
The original work, dating from 1932, is a joint creation by sculptors DEMUTH and GROSBER, in homage to national poet Michel RODANGE. The stone original of the “Renert” is kept in the Musée d’Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, and was overmolded in 1981 to give rise to the specimen on the Place Guillaume.
