Description
Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875) was the undisputed master of 19th-century animal sculpture. He has influenced generations of sculptors worldwide, including Frémiet, Valton, Mène and Trémont.
This art bronze bas-relief, designed as a decorative element for a clock or marble base, was created in the 1820s and produced by various foundries during the 19th and 20th centuries. The antique cast iron is on display at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
