Description
Charlotte, Aldegonde, Elisabeth, Marie, Wilhemine de Nassau, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg is an emblematic figures in the History of Luxembourg. During the Second World War, she went into exile in London and regularly addressed the Luxembourg people on the BBC, encouraging their resistance to the occupier. One of the symbols of this resistance is to wear a silver pin with her effigy, a portrait in profile directly cut out of the Luxembourg 5 franc coins, minted in 1929. This portrait is signed by the engraver and sculptor Ludwig Habisch.
